I've been procrastinating getting this blog started until I had the design finished, but Bruce Springsteen's performance at yesterday's Super Bowl was too good to let pass. Not only did he capture the energy of the "last 12 minutes" of an E Street Band show, as he promised he would, but he managed to condense all the energy and much of the emotional range of an entire concert into his brief set. And for anyone who's complaining about what was missing, or what he "should have done" (like the idiots at Slate who say he misjudged the national mood by playing such a buoyant, joyous set -- would you really have preferred "The River"?), check out Stewart Francke's wonderful take on it at Holler If Ya Hear Me.
And if you missed it...here's the first four minutes...
