A fantastic post, sent to me by a friend and one I really needed to read given my current crisis on approaching thirty (yes, thirty - oh, the humanity!).

I reckon we're going to be friends, not least because I have the title of the song you named your blog after tattooed on my right shoulder.

(Here's my take on the album, in case you were interested.)

Love your take on the album, too, and will be checking out your blog regularly.

Your thoughts really resonated with me, and I'm 51! FT reminds me of why I fell for Springsteen in '75, and then The Clash in '77, someone had to pick up Joe Strummer's torch. The Hold Steady, Frank Turner, and The Bottle Rockets keep me young.

Glad to hear it, Peter. I fell hard for all of those artists, too, a little later than you did ('80 for Bruce, '81 for the Clash), yeah, I really do feel like Frank Turner is carrying Strummer's torch. I forgot to include Strummer and the Mescaleros' "Global a Go Go" in my list, but it's definitely there. Alejandro Escovedo's "Real Animal," too.

Thank goodness for Spotify, because after this review I need to hear this album right away. Great writing. More reviews, please!
